About Representative Albert Shelby Willis

Albert Shelby Willis (born January 22, 1843) was a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives from Kentucky. Representing Kentucky’s 5th Congressional District, he served as a federal legislator during the late nineteenth century and is recognized as a historical member of Congress. His tenure in the House placed him among the prominent Democratic figures from Kentucky during that era.

Willis served five terms in Congress, holding office from October 15, 1877, to March 3, 1887. During this decade in the U.S. House of Representatives, he represented the interests of his Kentucky constituents as a member of the Democratic Party. After leaving office in 1887, he was no longer in public service as a sitting representative, and he is remembered primarily for his decade-long role in the national legislature.
