Alexander Randall (January 31, 1803 – November 3, 1881) was an American lawyer and politician from Maryland who served as a member of the United States House of Representatives from 1841 to 1843.

Early Life and Career

Alexander Randall was born on January 31, 1803, in Annapolis, Maryland. He studied law and was admitted to the Maryland bar, establishing a practice in his home state. Before entering federal office, he was active in Maryland legal and political circles as a member of the Whig Party.

Congressional Career

Randall was elected to the United States House of Representatives as a Whig, representing Maryland’s 4th Congressional District. He served one term in the Twenty-seventh Congress from May 31, 1841, to March 3, 1843. During his time in Congress, he participated in legislative debates on tariff policy, banking, and internal improvements that were central issues of the Whig agenda.

Later Life and Legacy

After leaving Congress, Randall returned to his law practice in Maryland and continued to be involved in local civic affairs. He died on November 3, 1881. His service in Congress placed him among the Maryland legislators who contributed to the national political discourse during the antebellum period.
