Step 1: Verify device compatibility

Ensure your smartphone supports eSIM functionality. Most modern devices, including recent iPhone and Android models, are eSIM-compatible. Consult your device’s specifications or settings to confirm.

Some of the latest phone models from Samsung and iPhone that support eSIM integration include:

  • Samsung Galaxy A71 5G
  • Samsung Galaxy S9
  • Samsung Galaxy S8
  • Samsung Galaxy A11
  • Samsung Galaxy A51
  • Apple iPhone 13
  • Apple iPhone 12
  • Apple iPhone 12 Pro
  • Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • Apple iPhone X, etc.

Step 2: Connect to Wi-Fi

Before initiating the eSim setup, connect your device to a stable Wi-Fi network:

  • Navigate to your device’s settings.
  • Select “Wi-Fi” or “Wireless Networks.”
  • Choose a preferred Wi-Fi network and enter the password if prompted.
  • Go to your device and open the settings.
  • Next, go to the mobile data section.
  • Select the option to add a new eSIM to your device.
  • Complete the eSIM setup process.

Step 5: Configure APN settings

To ensure optimal network performance, adjust your device’s Access Point Name (APN) settings. For example:

  • For devices running iOS 17 or later, enable the carrier settings within the eSIM cellular settings.

Step 6: Activate the eSIM

Once the eSIM is installed and APN settings are configured:

  • Ensure the eSIM feature is enabled in your device’s settings.

  • Your new device supports eSIM technology and is unlocked.
  • You remove or deactivate the eSIM from your old device before setting it up on the new one.
  • You follow the eSIM activation process, typically involving scanning a new QR code or manually entering activation details.

How to check if your device supports eSIM?

Check your device settings

On iPhone: Go to Settings > Cellular (or Mobile Data). If you see “Add eSIM” or “Convert to eSIM,” your device supports eSIM.

On Android: Go to Settings > Connections (or Network & Internet). Look for SIM Manager or Mobile Networks and check for an eSIM option.

Verify with the manufacturer

Visit the official website of Apple, Samsung, Google, or your device brand and search for your model’s specifications. Look for eSIM support in the connectivity features.

Dial a USSD code

Some Android devices allow you to check eSIM compatibility by dialing *#06#. If the EID (Embedded Identity Document) number appears, your device likely supports eSIM.
