Darrell Samson MP, born on October 13, 1958, is a distinguished Canadian politician who has made significant contributions to public service. Since 2015, he has served as the dedicated member of Parliament (MP) for the electoral district of Sackville—Preston—Chezzetcook. Prior to his political career, Samson held the esteemed position of superintendent at the Conseil scolaire acadien provincial, Nova Scotia’s Acadian and Francophone school board.
Early Life and Education
Samson hails from the picturesque town of Petit-de-Grat, located in Isle Madame, Nova Scotia. As an Acadian, he embraced his cultural heritage and upbringing. His academic pursuits led him to the Université de Moncton, where he diligently pursued his education. In 1982, Samson graduated with a Bachelor of Education, followed by a Masters in Education in 1984, further enriching his knowledge and understanding of educational practices.
Before Politics
Before embarking on his political journey, Samson spent numerous years as a dedicated educator and administrator at Caudle Park Elementary. It was during this time that he honed his skills and developed a deep appreciation for the transformative power of education. His passion for promoting Acadian and Francophone education led him to assume a pivotal role at the Conseil scolaire acadien provincial. Throughout his career, Samson also held esteemed positions such as national president and vice-president of all French school board superintendents outside Quebec. He actively participated as a member of the National Committee for Early Years and the Provincial Advisory Council to the Minister of Education on Early Years in Nova Scotia, showcasing his commitment to shaping educational policies.

In recognition of his leadership and dedication to public service, Samson successfully ran for the House of Commons in the 2015 federal election, representing the constituents of Sackville—Preston—Chezzetcook.
