About
Johnathan C. Buma, an Arizona native and graduate of a public school on a Native American reservation, is running for Congress in Arizona’s 6th District following his retirement as an FBI Special Agent.
Before joining the Bureau, he worked as a biochemist developing treatments for disease, then dedicated over 16 years to protecting national security and upholding the Constitution against the disease of corruption in all its forms. His career spanned from the Midwest to both coasts, concluding in Southern California.
Recognized by FBI Headquarters as an adjunct faculty member and subject matter expert in financial crimes, counterintelligence, and weapons of mass destruction, Buma developed the FBI’s financial investigative strategy for its Counterproliferation Center and trained hundreds of agents nationwide.
In his final years, serving both as a supervisor and senior front-line operator, he specialized in Russian counterintelligence, international corruption, and election interference—gaining rare insight into the complex interplay between international, federal, and local agencies.
His disclosures to Congress and the DOJ Inspector General exposed politically driven manipulation of intelligence within the FBI. These revelations propelled him into the national spotlight and ended his clandestine career.
He remains committed to restoring integrity to the U.S. justice system and defending the Constitution.
