CYNTHIA LUMMIS IS AN UNAPOLOGETIC, NO-NONSENSE, CONSERVATIVE FIGHTER WORKING FOR WYOMING IN THE U.S. SENATE. WORKING ALONGSIDE PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP, CYNTHIA IS A POWERFUL ADVOCATE AND VOICE FOR THE COWBOY STATE. In the Senate, Cynthia is working around the clock to further President Trump’s America First agenda that is creating a new Golden Age in America. Wyoming has been bogged down by woke policies and radical bureaucrats during the last four years. Cynthia fought against the Biden administration’s attacks on Wyoming’s energy industry, against its failed open borders agenda, against its inflationary spending, and against its assault on our civil liberties and values. She has proudly stood with President Trump and the America First movement, protected the unborn, safeguarded our Second Amendment rights, and defended women’s and girls’ sports from the far-left’s woke, trans agenda.

Cynthia Lummis is Wyoming through and through. She’s tough, tested, effective, and true to the place her family has called home for four generations. Born on a cattle ranch in Laramie County, Cynthia has spent her career protecting Wyoming values. From the halls of the Wyoming House to the halls of the U.S. Senate, Cynthia’s time in public service has always been focused on fighting for Wyoming’s unlimited future. As a United States Senator, Cynthia has fought to secure our borders, protect our Second Amendment rights, and create good-paying jobs across the Cowboy State. Cynthia was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2008, where she quickly earned a reputation as a no-nonsense conservative and principled policymaker. During her time in the U.S. House, she garnered an ‘A+’ rating from the National Rifle Association and a 100% voting record with National Right to Life. Her pro-Wyoming voting record earned her recognition as the legislator who opposed President Obama’s radical liberal agenda more often than any other federal elected official. Cynthia was also a founding member of the House Freedom Caucus, a group consisting of the most unflinching conservative Members of the House of Representatives. She fought throughout her tenure in Congress to rein in spending and reduce the federal deficit. In 2016, Cynthia did something not often done by politicians - she retired from the U.S. House of Representatives and instead returned to live and work in Wyoming. With an endorsement from President Donald J. Trump in 2020 and a renewed passion for public service, Cynthia was elected to represent Wyoming in the U.S. Senate. In the Senate, Cynthia has been a leader on Western issues. As chair of the Senate Western Caucus, she has reminded eastern lawmakers just how invasive the federal government is into the lives and businesses of westerners. A member of the conservative Senate Steering Committee, she has fought back against the extreme policies of the Biden era. Cynthia is a dedicated champion of Wyoming’s mineral and energy resources. In Washington, Cynthia has fought off attacks from left-wing environmentalists while defending our land and advocating for market opportunities both at home and abroad. The Biden era of attacking Western energy production and pushing a shortsighted, anti-energy agenda is over. Cynthia is focused on advancing policies that benefit a pro-Wyoming energy approach, especially supporting our baseload energy sources of coal, oil, gas, and uranium. These are so critical to our nation’s security and economic prosperity. Cynthia has worked to keep public lands open to the public and available for multiple use. While far-left environmental groups with no connection to Wyoming push to lock up public lands and prevent multiple-use management, Cynthia has worked with her colleagues in the Senate Western Caucus to bolster multiple-use policies and block harmful Resource Management Plans (RMP). Cynthia is all Wyoming, all the time. Prior to serving in Congress, Cynthia spent eight years as Wyoming State Treasurer and 14 years as a member of the Wyoming State House and Senate. Cynthia also worked as general counsel to Wyoming Governor Jim Geringer and Director of the Office of State Lands and Investments, as well as a law clerk at the Wyoming Supreme Court. Cynthia lives in Laramie County and is a proud three-time graduate of the University of Wyoming in animal science, biology, and law. Cynthia and her late-husband, Al Wiederspahn, have one daughter, Annaliese, son-in-law Will Cole and three grandkids.

Cynthia on the Issues

AMERICA FIRST

With President Trump back in the White House, we have an opportunity to enact an America First agenda that ushers our country into a new Golden Age. I first ran for the U.S. Senate in 2020 because I wanted to help President Trump change American politics and deliver on policies that make life better for the people of Wyoming. That agenda includes: Bringing manufacturing and production of critical goods and services back to the United States from China, including critical medical supplies and rare earth minerals;

Reducing overly burdensome regulations on businesses; Preventing the CCP from purchasing western lands; Securing our borders and ensure existing immigration laws are enforced; Continuing pro-growth tax policies that enable the private sector, and the jobs and revenues they provide, to thrive; Implementing a foreign policy that protects the American people and restores American global dominance.

NATIONAL DEBT

Reducing government spending and addressing our national debt are my highest priorities in the U.S. Senate. Our mounting national debt isn’t just a number - it directly impacts our economy, household finances, policy options, national security, and America’s standing in the world. During my service in the House, I demonstrated my commitment by challenging even my own party’s leadership when they proposed excessive spending. In the Senate, I’ve maintained my role as a steadfast budget hawk, working hard over the past four years to control reckless spending and chart a sustainable fiscal course for our nation. I’m particularly enthusiastic about the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) initiated by President Trump and Elon Musk because Congress has repeatedly failed to address waste, fraud, and abuse in federal programs. We cannot afford to wait any longer for meaningful action. We are $36 trillion in debt and must restore fiscal sanity in our nation’s capital. I pledge to continue this important work to secure America’s financial future.

ENERGY

Around the world, Wyoming is recognized as an energy powerhouse with vast untapped potential. Be it coal, oil, natural gas, uranium or renewables, Wyoming has it all. We are the pre-eminent energy state and during my time in the Senate, I have been a dedicated champion of Wyoming’s mineral and energy resources. But there is more work to do to roll back the Biden administration’s anti-energy, anti-Wyoming policies that only hurt our national and economic security. Implementing recommendations of President Trump’s Nuclear Fuel Working Group and Senator John Barrasso’s American Nuclear Infrastructure Act to revitalize domestic uranium mining; Enabling the export of Powder River Basin coal through western ports; Advancing the research and promotion of carbon capture technologies and coal-derived carbon products; Enacting permitting reform that creates fair, transparent, and timely processes within a responsive regulatory framework. Wyoming businesses need regulatory certainty, not unworkable, slow-moving red tape that brings new projects to a halt while competitors like China and Russia advance without such barriers.

BORDER SECURITY

Citizens expect their federal government to keep borders secure. This is so fundamental and basic, it’s sad anyone even needs to say it. Yet during the Biden administration, our southern border was left open while the administration repealed common-sense immigration policies to satisfy far-left interest groups. With President Trump back in the White House, and Republicans controlling both the House and the Senate, we will do everything necessary to secure our border and enforce our existing immigration laws. Almost immediately upon being sworn in, President Trump ended Biden’s dangerous “catch and release” policy, as well the so-called “CBP One” app, which “paroled” more than one million illegal immigrants into the country. I worked to pass the Laken Riley Act through the U.S. Senate, which was the first bill President Trump signed into law during his second term. Laken Riley was murdered by a criminal illegal alien who should have never been in the United States in the first place. While this legislation sadly cannot bring Laken Riley back, it will save other Americans and their families from enduring this heartbreaking and preventable tragedy. I’ve proudly supported legislation that would restart construction of President Trump’s border wall, hire more border patrol agents, tighten asylum laws, and protect Wyoming families from the deadly fentanyl that has been illegally flowing across the border and into our neighborhoods.

AGRICULTURE

As a lifelong rancher, I know that farming, ranching, and agriculture isn’t just a job - it’s a way of life. Agriculture is woven into the fabric of Wyoming and is a vitally important part of our economy. Our state was built on agriculture and I’m proud to fight for our producers every day in Washington. Including: Fighting against burdensome mandates like the EID ear tag rule; Supported mandatory Country of Origin Labeling legislation; Sponsored the PRIME Act, legislation to make it easier to sell beef products across state lines; Insisted that conservation provisions within the Farm bill remain voluntary and incentive-based; Stood up for the timber industry against egregious attacks made by the Biden administration and federal agencies as part of their 30x30 efforts; Effectively pushing back on the Biden administration’s proposed “Old Growth Rule,” which would have further restricted responsible logging and cost Wyoming good paying jobs; Requested robust funding for the Grizzly Depredation Compensation program.

HEALTHCARE

The rising health insurance costs we’ve seen in recent years remain a significant burden for Wyoming residents and small businesses alike. I’ve championed several initiatives designed to reduce expenses while enhancing access to high-quality healthcare services. My support extends to: Improving transparency in healthcare and prescription drug pricing;

  • Increasing access to quality healthcare; Bolstering accessibility to mental and behavioral healthcare services;

  • Strengthening rural telehealth;

  • Supporting preventative healthcare and getting to the root causes of chronic diseases; Addressing the shortage of healthcare professionals in rural communities;

  • Reducing federal overreach inhibiting quality healthcare.

PROTECTING FEDERALISM AND PREVENTING FEDERAL OVERREACH As a conservative, I believe our duty to protect the U.S. Constitution is critical to the future of our country. I believe that one of the most important sections of the Constitution is the Tenth Amendment, which explicitly states the importance of federalism, that “power not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or the people.” The people of Wyoming know the devastating impact when federalism is not respected and federal overreach creeps into every aspect of our lives. Our communities face unique challenges - from managing public lands and our natural resources to addressing rural healthcare and economic development - and those challenges demand local solutions, not one-size-fits-all mandates from unelected bureaucrats in Washington, D.C. I believe that true federalism allows states to serve as laboratories of democracy, where different ideas and approaches can be tested and refined. The path to a new Golden Era must include limiting federal power and returning power back to the states and individuals. I remain committed to passing legislation that respects these principles.

DEFENDING WOMEN’S AND GIRLS’ SPORTS I believe that the far-left’s attack on female athletes is the women’s rights issue of our time. In the Senate, I have worked with my colleagues and President Trump to pass legislation that reverses the woke policies that undermine Title IX and the protections it rightfully guarantees. In 2024, the University of Wyoming women’s volleyball team was unfairly forced to forfeit two matches against San Jose State University because SJSU’s women’s volleyball team had a biologically male player. That’s not a level playing field, and could be dangerous to these female athletes. I worked with Senator Tuberville (R-AL) to introduce the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act because we can’t allow the left to erase women’s sports. I was proud to join President Trump at the White House in February 2025 as he signed an Executive Order keeping men out of women’s sports. We must codify this standard and stand up for all the little girls who want a chance at fair play. I will continue to be a fierce advocate on this issue.
