Meet Rhett Marques

Rep. Rhett Marques, a lifelong Republican, has served with honesty and integrity while fighting to uphold conservative values as a member of the Alabama House of Representatives. His commitment to representing Enterprise in the State House while working diligently to advance the Trump agenda on the state level has earned him the reputation of being among the most reliable conservatives in legislature. He recognized the burden that failed Biden economic policies had on Alabama families and worked to provide them with relief by slashing taxes on groceries, eliminating the state sales tax on diapers and baby supplies that are critical for young families, and implementing a substantial tax relief package for our seniors.

As a small business owner, he knows how important the American Dream of being able to own your business is and how hard we must fight to preserve that dream. We must instill the belief in the dignity of a hard day’s work and the value of financial independence into our next generation.

He and his wife, Christina, have been married for 31 years and raised their two daughters with a strong faith in God, a love of this country and an unparalleled work ethic.

Rhett was born and raised in Spanish Fort, AL and graduated from Fairhope High School before attending the University of Alabama. His love for the first Congressional District lies in his passion for and understanding of the wiregrass region where he raised his family and the coastal area where he was born and raised and where his roots run deep.

Issues

The Economy

Cutting taxes is essential to relieving the burden that four years of failed Biden economic policies placed on Alabama families. While President Trump was working to give American families a tax cut with the Big Beautiful Bill, I was working hard in the Alabama legislature to provide meaningful tax cuts for Alabamians. I was proud to support legislation that slashed taxes on groceries, eliminated the state sales tax on diapers and baby supplies that are critical for young families, and implemented a substantial tax relief package for our seniors. These bills, along with efforts to remove incentives that make it attractive for able-bodied citizens to stay at home rather than participate in the workforce are turning our economy around. These are the types of initiatives that are helping President Trump turn our economy around and putting hardworking Americans back at the center of the economic focus, where they should be. The government should serve the people of this country. I, like President Trump, will not lose sight of that fact.

Priorities

  • Continue pushing permanent relief on groceries and essential household items.
  • Expand incentives that reward work and shrink government dependence.
  • Align with President Trump’s pro-growth agenda to keep families at the center of economic policy.

America’s Veterans

The men and women who have served in our nation’s military should be of the utmost importance. I currently represent a district with more veterans than almost anywhere else in the state and I am honored to be able to serve them as they served us. From working to build a state-of-the-art Veterans Home to providing occupational licensing reciprocity for military families, I am proud that we are the most veteran-friendly state in the country.

Priorities

  • Finish the Alabama Veterans Home and expand access to quality care.
  • Remove red tape that blocks military spouses from working when duty stations change.
  • Protect earned benefits and services for every Alabama veteran.

Keeping our Borders Secure

President Trump has done a fantastic job securing our Southern border and illegal crossings are at a historically low rate. Recently passed federal legislation provided an additional $40+ billion to support the efforts of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement combined with comprehensive immigration policies are clearly working to deter the flood of illegal immigrants that were previously surging across the US-Mexico border. Legal immigration is welcome in this country by individuals who have been fully vetted and have completed an intensive entry process and working to ensure that legal, not illegal immigration, is the norm in our nation and is key to protecting our economy, our community safety and our national security.

Priorities

  • Codify President Trump’s enforcement actions so future administrations can’t reverse them.
  • Ensure every federal dollar strengthens ICE, Border Patrol, and the technologies they rely on.
  • Streamline the legal immigration process while shutting down incentives for illegal crossings.

Farmers Feed America

The hardworking men and women who farm Alabama’s land not only feed us but drive our economy. Agriculture remains the largest industry in our state’s first Congressional District. From peanuts to cotton to cattle to poultry to timber and everything in between, the protection of our state’s agricultural jobs, land and products is essential for our food supply and our economic health. As a member of the Alabama legislature, I have always advocated for our farmers and I will continue that advocacy in Congress.

Priorities

  • Protect crop insurance, disaster relief, and infrastructure vital to growers and producers.
  • Fight burdensome regulations that threaten family farms and agribusinesses.
  • Expand markets for Alabama-grown products at home and abroad.

2nd Amendment

“The right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” Those are the words of the United States Constitution and I cannot say it better than that precious document says it.

Commitments

  • Oppose every attempt to weaken the Second Amendment.
  • Support constitutional carry and statewide reciprocity.
  • Crack down on violent offenders while keeping law-abiding citizens free.

Women’s Athletics

As the father of two daughters who both participated in competitive athletics, I know how important it is to protect their place on the court, on the field and in the locker room. Allowing biological males to infiltrate those spaces is not acceptable. As a member of the Alabama legislature, I was proud to support our state’s legislation that protected female athletic spaces for female athletes.

Priorities

  • Defend female-only sports competition from elementary school to college.
  • Preserve safe locker rooms and facilities for women.
  • Hold agencies accountable when they ignore protections for girls and young women.

Pro-life

I am unapologetically pro-life. I will vehemently oppose any effort to use taxpayer funds to promote or perform abortions. As a member of the Alabama House of Representatives, I supported efforts to streamline the adoption process to make it more affordable for Alabama families. I would champion that same effort on the federal level.

Priorities

  • Block federal funding for abortion providers and mandate full transparency.
  • Promote adoption reform so every child finds a loving home faster and at lower cost.
  • Support policies that uplift mothers, families, and children before and after birth.
