About Governor Christopher S. Bond



CHRISTOPHER S. BOND was born in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1939. He attended Princeton University and graduated from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs in 1960. He graduated from the University of Virginia Law School first in his class in 1963. In 1969, Bond became Missouri assistant attorney general, in charge of consumer protection. He was elected state auditor in 1970. In 1972, he was elected to his first term as governor. After leaving office, the governor became president of the Great Plains Legal Foundation, a nonprofit public interest law firm. He was elected to a second term as governor in 1980. In 1986, Bond was elected to the U.S. Senate and reelected in 1992, 1998, and 2004. In the Senate he served on the Small Business Committee and the Appropriations Subcommittee that funds the nation’s housing and veterans’ needs.
