Senator Elmer Austin Benson

Elmer Austin Benson (born September 22, 1895) was a United States senator from the state of Minnesota. A member of the Farmer-Labor Party, he served a single term in the U.S. Senate from December 27, 1935, to January 3, 1937. During this period, he represented Minnesota at the federal level as a historical member of Congress.

Benson’s tenure in the Senate placed him within the Farmer-Labor political tradition, which was influential in Minnesota during the early twentieth century.
