Representative Giles Waldo Hotchkiss

Giles Waldo Hotchkiss (born October 25, 1815) was a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives from New York. He represented New York’s 26th Congressional District and served as a federal legislator during the mid-nineteenth century. His congressional service began on December 7, 1863, and concluded on March 3, 1871, spanning three terms in office.

Hotchkiss served as a Representative during a period that included the final years of the Civil War and the early phase of Reconstruction, aligning with the Republican Party. Throughout his tenure, he was identified with New York and the 26th District, holding office continuously from 1863 to 1871. After leaving Congress, he held no further recorded federal office, and he is remembered primarily as a historical member of Congress from New York.
