About Representative James A. Barcia
James A. Barcia (born February 25, 1952) is a former Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives who represented Michigan’s 5th Congressional District. Serving as a representative from January 5, 1993, to January 3, 2003, he completed five terms in Congress. During this decade in federal office, Barcia was part of Michigan’s Democratic delegation in the U.S. House.
Barcia’s tenure in Congress spanned the 1990s into the early 2000s, a period marked by significant national political and economic change.
