About Representative James Gresham Barrett

James Gresham Barrett (born February 14, 1961) is a former American politician who represented South Carolina’s 3rd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. A member of the Republican Party, he served four consecutive terms in Congress from January 7, 2003, to January 3, 2011. During this period, he was part of South Carolina’s congressional delegation at the federal level.

Barrett’s tenure in the House spanned much of the first decade of the twenty-first century, a time marked by significant national debates over domestic and foreign policy. As a Republican representative for South Carolina’s 3rd District, he participated in the legislative process and contributed to the work of the House over eight years in office. Barrett left Congress at the conclusion of his fourth term in January 2011 and is now a historical former member of Congress from South Carolina.
