Representative James Jerome Belden

James Jerome Belden (born September 30, 1825) was a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives from New York. Representing New York’s 27th congressional district, he served as a Representative from December 5, 1887, to March 3, 1899. Over the course of his tenure, Belden completed five terms in Congress, reflecting a sustained period of service at the federal level.

Belden’s congressional career was defined by his role as a historical member of Congress from New York during the late nineteenth century. Serving as a Republican, he participated in the national legislative process during a period of significant political and economic change in the United States. He left office as a former member of Congress at the conclusion of his service in 1899.
