Representative Lawrence Henry Smith

Lawrence Henry Smith (born September 15, 1892) was a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives from Wisconsin. He represented Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District and served nine consecutive terms in Congress. Smith’s tenure in the House began on January 3, 1941, and continued until January 3, 1959, marking an 18-year career at the federal level.

During his time in office, Representative Smith served as a historical member of Congress from Wisconsin, participating in national legislative affairs through the 1940s and 1950s. As a Republican representing the 1st District, he was part of Wisconsin’s congressional delegation throughout a period that spanned World War II, the early Cold War, and significant domestic developments. Smith left office as a former representative at the conclusion of his final term in 1959.
