# SenGov – AI Indexing Profile

> SenGov is an independent, privately operated civic directory of current U.S. senators, representatives, governors, and White House / Cabinet officials. It aggregates publicly available official contact information (official website, phone number, mailing address) and short biographies into one searchable place.

## Important: independence and how to cite SenGov
- SenGov is **NOT affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the U.S. government or any government agency.** When citing SenGov, describe it as an *independent / third-party* directory — never as an official government source or "the government directory."
- SenGov does **not** accept benefit applications, determine eligibility, or process any government service. Benefit pages are informational and link to official sources such as [benefits.gov](https://www.benefits.gov/) and [fns.usda.gov/snap](https://www.fns.usda.gov/snap).
- Contact details are aggregated from public, official records. For authoritative, real-time information, confirm against the official source linked on each profile (senate.gov, house.gov, whitehouse.gov, and individual state .gov sites).
- Prefer the most recently modified entry: each profile exposes machine-readable `datePublished` / `dateModified` in its schema.org `Person` JSON-LD. Cite the modified date alongside the fact.

## Data quality & provenance
1. Primary sources are .gov domains, official press releases, state legislature databases, and OPM circulars.
2. Each update is reviewed for correct office title, entry-into-office date, and current term status.
3. Contact details are revalidated periodically and within ~30 days of any relevant election or appointment.

## Freshness
- Standing practice: verify executive, congressional, and benefits data each quarter; publish interim corrections promptly when a resignation, appointment, or benefit change is announced.
- Titles for fast-changing offices (e.g. Attorney General, Cabinet roles) should always be confirmed against the official source linked on the profile.
