Senator Leah Blyth

Professional Leah Blyth is a Liberal Senator for South Australia. Appointed to the Senate via a joint sitting of the South Australian Parliament on 6 February 2025, she replaces now retired Senator Simon Birmingham. She is up for re-election in 2028.

Senator Blyth currently holds the position of President of the South Australian Liberal Party and was a former Liberal Women’s Council President.

With postgraduate qualifications, she has expertise in the higher education and school sectors, both in Australia and internationally.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Marketing and Criminology) and a Graduate Certificate in Tourism, Festival and Event Design and Management both from Flinders University.

Her pre-Senate career included being a small business owner, managing large-scale operations, resource management, change management and efficiency and cost saving measures.

She is the daughter and granddaughter of immigrants who were drawn to this land of opportunity from England, India and Burma seeking the freedom and prosperity that come from hard work and personal responsibility.

Supported by her husband – a proud RAAF active service veteran and her three children, Leah is fully committed to the principles and values of the Liberal Party and believes the simple philosophy of smaller government, lower taxes and greater freedom will lead to prosperity.

While raising her family, she also operated a small family business before venturing into executive and leadership roles in large organisations.

With executive experience, marketing skills, business ownership, financial acumen and knowledge of government processes, she is an effective and passionate advocate for South Australia. She took up her Senate position, in February 2025, replacing retiring Senator Simon Birmingham.

She is currently the President of the South Australian Liberal Party and was a former Liberal Women’s Council President.

Leah holds a Bachelor of Arts (Marketing and Criminology) from Flinders University and a Graduate Certificate in Tourism, Festival and Event Design and Management from Flinders University.

Education Leah Blyth is a Liberal Senator for South Australia, deeply committed to improving our education system.

As an education executive with two decades of experience she believes the current system is failing our young people and the national interest.

With three school aged children, she is uniquely placed to champion sensible education policy reform in our national Parliament.

She is concerned about the ideological content that is being delivered in classrooms, under the guise of education, believing Australia must get back to supporting a curriculum founded in reading, writing, maths, science and history.

Leah is currently President of the South Australian Liberal Party and was a former Liberal Women’s Council President.
