Representative Abby Major
Abby Major is an American politician serving as a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from the 60th district. She was elected in a March 2021 special election and assumed office on June 7, 2021.
Abby Major was born and raised in Ford City, Pennsylvania. After graduating from Ford City High School, she joined the United States Army, serving as an intelligence analyst from 2004 to 2007. During her service, she was awarded the National Defense, Global War on Terrorism and Iraq Campaign Service medals and the Overseas Service Ribbon.
After leaving the Army, Abby attended the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mortuary science from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She then worked as the funeral director of the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home.
Before her political career, Abby worked for 10 years in former Rep. Jeff Pyle’s district office. She served as a legislative assistant and later as his chief of staff. Abby was first elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives after a May 2021 special election. She assumed office on June 7, 2021, and was re-elected for a full term in 2022.
In her current legislative session, Abby serves on the House Housing and Community Development, Liquor Control and Transportation committees. She also was appointed to the House Republican Policy Committee, where she was named chairman of the Subcommittee on Workforce Development.
Abby Major is a resident of Leechburg, Pennsylvania, where she lives with her daughter, Eliza.
