Senator Josh Carnley
Josh Carnley is an American Republican politician who serves the 31st district in the Alabama Senate. He was elected on November 8, 2022, in the 2022 election.
Born and raised in Ino, Alabama, Carnley graduated from Kinston High School in 1997. He then enrolled in Auburn University where he met his wife, the former Valerie Presley of Opp. The couple has three children: daughters Presley, 16; and Stella, 14; and son John Matthew, 10.
Carnley earned a degree in agricultural science from Auburn University. His career experience includes owning and working as the president of SanBuck Insurance. He has also served on the ChocPea Yellow River Watershed Authority.
In addition to his business pursuits, Carnley has also served as the Coffee County commissioner for district 1. He serves on several committees including the committee on County & Municipal Government, the committee on Agriculture, Conservation, & Forestry, Banking & Insurance, the committee on Fiscal Responsibility & Economic Development, and the committee on Veterans, Military Affairs, & Public Safety.
Carnley’s tenure as a member of the Alabama State Senate began in 2022 and his current term ends in 2026. His predecessor was Jimmy Holley. Carnley’s base salary as a state senator is $53,913/year.
