Representative Mary Moore
Mary Moore is a member of the Alabama House of Representatives, representing District 59. She is a member of the Democratic Party and has been serving since 2002. Her current term ends on November 4, 2026.
Born on July 23, 1948, Moore has a rich professional background. She worked as a medical technologist for the Department of Veterans Affairs hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. Prior to her tenure in the House of Representatives, she served on the Birmingham City School Board from 1998 to 2002.
Moore’s educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree from Tuskegee University in 1970 and a Graduate degree from Alabama A&M University in 1983. She has also earned a Certificate of Medical Technology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Over the years, Moore has been assigned to various committees. In the 2023-2024 legislative session, she was assigned to the Children and Senior Advocacy Committee, Jefferson County Legislation Committee, and the Technology and Research Committee. She held similar assignments in the 2021-2022 and 2019-2020 sessions as well.
In addition to her committee assignments, Moore has sponsored numerous pieces of legislation, contributing to the legislative process and shaping policy in Alabama.
In the 2022 general election, Moore ran for re-election to the Alabama House of Representatives to represent District 59. She won the election, securing another term to serve the people of her district.
Outside of her political career, Moore is a retired medical technologist from the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Birmingham. She is a former member of the Birmingham School Board, past President of the ACIPCO Finley Neighborhood, and former member of the Birmingham Industrial Water Board and Birmingham Trade Mart.
