Patrick Sellers is a member of the Democratic Party and represents District 57 in the Alabama House of Representatives. He assumed office on November 9, 2022, and his current term ends on November 4, 2026. Before his election to the Alabama House of Representatives, Sellers ran for election to represent District 57 and won in the general election on November 8, 2022. He was also a 2014 Democratic candidate for District 52 of the Alabama House of Representatives.

Sellers earned a bachelor’s degree in theology from Birmingham Easonian Baptist Bible College in 2006, a master’s degree in ministry from Andersonville Theological Seminary in 2007, a doctorate in ministry from Andersonville Theological Seminary in 2008, and a bachelor’s degree in religion from American Military University in 2021.

His career experience includes working as the pastor of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church and Cathedral of Faith Baptist Church and as an orthopedic first assistant. He served as the chief of staff to the president of the Alabama State Missionary Baptist Convention and the chairman of the Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority.

In the 2022 elections, Sellers defeated Delor Baumann and Manijeh Jones in the general election for Alabama House of Representatives District 57. He received 64.9% of the votes.

Beyond his ministry experience, Sellers served in the United States Army from 1990-1999, and as an orthopedic first assistant at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital from 1999-2005. Sellers was appointed to three Alabama House committees: Commerce and Small Business, Insurance, and Local Legislation.
