Patrice Ernita “Penni” McClammy is an American attorney and politician serving as a member of the Alabama House of Representatives from the 76th district. She assumed office on November 17, 2021.
Born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama, Penni attended Sidney Lanier High School. She pursued her higher education at several institutions. Continuing her academic journey, she obtained a Juris Doctor from the Thomas Goode Jones School of Law in 2002. Her thirst for knowledge didn’t stop there, and she went on to earn a PhD in public policy and administration from Florida State University in 2006.
Outside of politics, Penni operates a private legal practice. Her career has been marked by leading dialogue and advancing change. As a true servant leader, she has paved paths and built bridges, impacting countless women, men, children, and families. For 18 years, she has been the owner of Patrice E. Penni began her legal career as a public servant with the Newport News, VA. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). In 1998, she joined the Law Firm of Susan G. James & Associates as a legal assistant and an investigator. She represented the firm in the Of Counsel capacity upon the admittance to the Alabama State Bar. Penni served as Director of Compliance at Alabama A & M University, Huntsville, AL.; and later taught in the Public Administration Department as well as served as an Assistant Compliance Director at Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL.
After her father, Thad McClammy, died in office, Patrice declared her candidacy to succeed him. She did not face a challenger in the general election and assumed office on November 17, 2021. Penni is the daughter of her beloved parents, the late Dr. Thad C. and Patricia A. McClammy. She has one dear brother, Thad Christopher McClammy.
