Wes Kitchens is a member of the Republican Party and currently serves in the Alabama State Senate, representing District 9. He assumed office on January 10, 2024, and his current term ends on November 4, 2026. Kitchens won the election to the Alabama State Senate to represent District 9 outright in the Republican primary on January 9, 2024, after the general election was canceled.

Born and raised in Arab, Alabama, Kitchens graduated from Arab High School and Auburn University. In his career, Kitchens served as director of basketball operations at the University of Denver. After this, Kitchens served as president of the Arab Chamber of Commerce and later served as an agent at Holloway and Hunt Insurance in Arab.

In terms of his legislative work, Kitchens has been assigned to several committees. In the 2023-2024 term, he was assigned to the Health Committee, Transportation, Utilities and Infrastructure Committee, Ways and Means General Fund Committee, and Joint Legislative Committee on State Parks. In the 2021-2022 term, he was assigned to the Joint Legislative Committee on State Parks, Commerce and Small Business Committee, Transportation, Utilities and Infrastructure Committee, Ways and Means General Fund Committee, and Health Committee. In the 2019-2020 term, he was assigned to the Commerce and Small Business Committee, House Education Policy Committee, and Transportation, Utilities and Infrastructure Committee.

Before his tenure in the Alabama State Senate, Kitchens served in the Alabama House of Representatives, representing District 27. He was employed as an agent at Holloway and Hunt Insurance in Arab. Prior to that position, Kitchens was the President of the Arab Chamber of Commerce. During his time at the Chamber, he focused on workforce and community development as well as working with local businesses to grow the Arab community.
