Andy Josephson, whose full name is Andrew Lewis Josephson, was born on July 15, 1964, in Anchorage, Alaska, U.S. He is a member of the Democratic Party and has been serving as a member of the Alaska House of Representatives since January 2013. He represented the 15th district from 2013 to 2023 and has been representing the 13th district since 2023.

Andy Josephson, whose full name is Andrew Lewis Josephson, was born on July 15, 1964, in Anchorage, Alaska, U.S. He is a member of the Democratic Party and has been serving as a member of the Alaska House of Representatives since January 2013. He represented the 15th district from 2013 to 2023 and has been representing the 13th district since 2023.

Josephson graduated from Whitman College in 1986 with a bachelor’s degree in history. He also earned a master’s degree in teaching from the University of Alaska Anchorage in 1992 and a JD from Penn State in 1997. He has spent almost his entire life in Alaska, mostly in Anchorage. Josephson’s excellent tennis game keeps him ranked high in the Alaska House Tennis Caucus.

Before his political career, Josephson served as an intern for Senator Ted Stevens. He also worked as a legislative aide and a teacher. He worked as an assistant district attorney in Kotzebue, Alaska from 1999 to 2001, before going into private practice. Josephson was elected to the Alaska House of Representatives in 2012.

Josephson has lived in Anchorage since July 1964, except for a few periods: in Juneau (January-May of 1990 and 2003), Lower Kalskag (August 1991-May 1994), Fairbanks (November 1997-September 1998), Kenai (September 1998-June 1999), and Kotzebue (December 1999-May 2001).

In addition to his political career, Josephson has held several professional positions. He was an intern for Senator Ted Stevens, a legislative aide for the 17th and 23rd Alaska Legislatures, a public school teacher in the Kuspuk School District in Kalskag, a superior court judicial law clerk in the 4th and 3rd Judicial Districts in Fairbanks and Kenai, an Assistant District Attorney in Kotzebue from 1999 to 2001, an Associate Attorney at the Law Offices of Dan Allan & Associates from 2003 to 2008 and at the Law Offices of G.R. Eschbacher from 2008 to 2012, and an Adjunct Instructor of Constitutional Law at UAA from 2003 to 2008.

Josephson’s special interests include backpacking, baseball, fishing, skiing, and competitive running/swimming.
