Donna Mears is a member of the Democratic Party and represents District 21 in the Alaska House of Representatives. She assumed office on January 17, 2023, and her current term ends on January 21, 2025.

Born around 1971, Donna Mears hails from New Jersey. She moved to Alaska, where she currently resides in Anchorage. Mears is an environmental engineer by profession. She earned a bachelor’s degree in bio-environmental engineering from Rutgers University and a master’s degree in urban planning from the University of Michigan.

Before her political career, Mears worked as a civil and environmental engineer. Her professional experience extends beyond engineering. She served on the Alaska chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America, the Northeast Community Council executive board, and various Municipality of Anchorage boards and commissions. These include the Health and Human Services Commission, the Stormwater Utility Commission, the Solid Waste and Recycling Advisory Commission, and the MOA On-Site Water and Wastewater Technical Review Board.

In the 2022 elections, Mears ran for election to the Alaska House of Representatives to represent District 21. She won the general election on November 8, 2022. The ranked-choice voting election was won by Donna Mears in round 1 with 51.1% of the total votes, amounting to 3,574 votes.
