Representative George Rauscher
George Rauscher is a member of the Alaska House of Representatives, representing District 29. He is a member of the Republican Party. He assumed office on January 17, 2023, and his current term ends on January 21, 2025.
Rauscher ran for re-election to the Alaska House of Representatives to represent District 29 and won in the general election on November 8, 2022. He has been serving in the Alaska State Legislature from the 30th to the 33rd Legislature (2017 - 2024).
Before his political career, Rauscher lived in Alaska for 38 years, making his home in the quaint little community of Sutton. He married Elizabeth Samuel and they raised four daughters. He studied Construction Management at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, from 2008-2013. His career experience includes working as a business owner.
Rauscher also served on the Sutton Community Council, the Alpine Road Service Advisory Board, the Mat-Su Borough Road Service Advisory Board, the Alpine Civic Club, and the Jonesville/Slipper Lake Action Committee.
During his legislative service, Rauscher was assigned to several committees including the House Resources Committee, the Legislative Council Committee, the House Environmental Conservation (Fin Sub), the House Military & Veterans’ Affairs (Fin Sub), the House Military & Veterans’ Affairs, the House Resources, the House Energy, and the House Vpso Working Group.
Rauscher has sponsored several bills during his tenure, including bills on holding legislative sessions in Anchorage, state land sale, defensive display of firearm, prohibition of state-funded sex change operations, display of state and national mottos, sex education, criminal law, parole, probation, sentencing, peace officer retirement benefits, repeal certificate of need program, outdoor advertising signs, elimination of daylight saving time, election of permanent presiding officer, shared child custody, motor vehicle window tinting, importation of bees and bee equipment, made in Alaska emblems, and university office of public policy events.
