Senator Anna Hernandez

Anna Hernandez is an American politician and a member of the Democratic Party. She was elected in 2022 to serve in the Arizona State Senate representing District 24. She defeated incumbent State Representative Cesar Chavez in the Democratic primary and went on to be unopposed in the general election.

Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Hernandez has been a community activist fighting for quality jobs, affordable housing, and resources for mental health. Her career experience includes working in banking. She is known as a progressive Democrat running for State Senate in Legislative District 24.

During her tenure in the Arizona Senate, she has been described as a “staunch housing advocate” and spearheaded legislative efforts to increase housing supply through faster permitting processes and less restrictive zoning regulations.

Hernandez assumed office on January 9, 2023. Her current term ends on January 13, 2025. On January 30, 2024, Hernandez announced she would not seek re-election to the Arizona State Senate District 24.

She has been assigned to the following committees: Senate Commerce Committee, Senate Elections Committee, and Senate Judiciary Committee.
