Christopher H. Mathis is an American attorney and politician who is currently serving as a member of the Arizona House of Representative from the 18th district. He assumed office on January 9, 2023, and is serving alongside Nancy Gutierrez.

Christopher H. Mathis is an American attorney and politician who is currently serving as a member of the Arizona House of Representatives from the 18th district. He assumed office on January 9, 2023, and is serving alongside Nancy Gutierrez. Prior to this, he represented the 9th district from December 7, 2021, to January 9, 2023, serving with Pamela Hannley. He succeeded Randy Friese in this role and was later succeeded by Seth Blattman.

Mathis is a member of the Democratic Party. He has a rich educational background, having earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and a Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois Urbana–Champaign. He also holds a Master of Public Administration and a Master of Public Health from Harvard University.

Before joining the legislature, Mathis worked as an elder law and estate planning attorney. He also served as a professor at the James E. Rogers College of Law. His career also includes a stint as a health care legislative assistant to U.S. Senator Chuck Hagel and professional staff in the Health Care Policy Department at Harvard Medical School.

In addition to his current role, Mathis is also a professor at the University of Arizona and an attorney. He lives with his wife, Colleen, in Tucson, Arizona. He practices elder law, helping older Tucsonans and their families resolve issues related to long-term care, public benefits, senior housing, and estate planning.
