Representative Elda Luna-Nájera

Elda Luna-Nájera is a dedicated public servant and social worker who has made significant contributions to her community in Arizona. She currently serves as a member of the Arizona House of Representatives, representing District 22. Luna-Nájera assumed office on March 1, 2024, after being appointed by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors to fill the vacant seat left by Leezah Sun. Her current term is set to end on January 11, 2027.

Luna-Nájera’s journey in public service began long before her tenure in the Arizona House of Representatives. She has been an active member of the Tolleson Union High School District Governing Board since November 9, 2020, where she currently serves as the president. In this role, she has been instrumental in managing social programs, including mental health and foster care, and has worked tirelessly to improve the educational experience for students in her district.

Born and raised in Arizona, Luna-Nájera is a first-generation Mexican American whose parents immigrated from Mexico. She holds a master’s degree in social work from Arizona State University and a doctorate in social work from the University of Southern California. Her academic background and professional experience have equipped her with the skills and knowledge necessary to address the complex social issues facing her community.

Throughout her career, Luna-Nájera has been a strong advocate for public education, social justice, and the well-being of families. She has worked with various non-profit organizations and public education institutions, focusing on supporting families experiencing homelessness and those in foster care. Her dedication to these causes has earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and constituents alike.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Luna-Nájera is a devoted wife and mother. She has been married for 26 years and is the proud mother of five children. Her family is a source of inspiration and motivation for her continued efforts to make a positive impact in her community.
