Senator Janae Shamp
Janae Shamp is an American politician and registered nurse. She is a member of the Republican Party and currently serves in the Arizona State Senate representing District 29. Shamp assumed office on January 9, 2023, succeeding Martín Quezada.
Shamp was elected in 2022 and was one of several legislative candidates endorsed by former President Donald Trump in Arizona. She defeated incumbent State Representative Joanne Osborne in the Republican primary.
Shamp resides in Surprise, Arizona. She is an alumna of Arizona State University and Grand Canyon University. She earned a B.S. in molecular biosciences and biotechnology, cum laude, from Arizona State University in 2002 and a B.S. in nursing, magna cum laude, from Grand Canyon University in 2012. Her career experience includes working as an operating room nurse.
In the general election for Arizona State Senate District 29 held on November 8, 2022, Shamp defeated David Raymer. She secured 59.0% of the votes, amounting to 51,466 votes in total.
As a legislator, Shamp has been assigned to several committees including the Finance Committee, Government Committee, Senate Health and Human Services Committee (as Vice Chair), and Senate Ethics Committee. Her current term ends on January 13, 2025.
