Joseph Chaplik is an American politician who is currently serving as one of the state representatives in Arizona’s 3rd district. He assumed office on January 9, 2023. Prior to this, he served in the 23rd district from January 11, 2021, to January 9, 2023.

Chaplik began his political journey by defeating incumbent Republican Jay Lawrence in a primary election for the 23rd district seat. He and incumbent John Kavanagh won in a two-seat election in 2020, both defeating Democrat Eric Kurland by over 15,000 votes. He was reelected in 2022 to the 3rd district, after redistricting.

In addition to his political career, Chaplik has a rich professional background. He has worked as the president of Joseph Bernard Investment Real Estate, the vice president and general manager of XO Communications and Allegiance Telecom, Inc., and a branch manager with Sprint Communications. He has also volunteered with the Maricopa County Sheriffs Memorial Fund.

Chaplik’s tenure in the Arizona House of Representatives has been marked by his active participation in various committees. In the 2023-2024 term, he served as the Vice-Chair of the House Appropriations Committee and was a member of the Joint Committee on Capital Review and the Joint Legislative Budget Committee. In the 2021-2022 term, he was assigned to the Transportation Committee, House Commerce Committee, and House Health and Human Services Committee.

Chaplik ran for re-election to the Arizona House of Representatives to represent District 3 and won in the general election on November 8, 2022. His current term ends on January 13, 2025.
