Representative Lupe Diaz
Lupe Diaz is an American politician and pastor who is currently serving as a member of the Arizona House of Representatives from the 19th district. He assumed office on January 9, 2023.
Born and raised in Bisbee, Arizona, Diaz is the son of a miner. After graduating from Bisbee High School, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in theological studies from the School of Bible Theology in San Jacinto, California.
Diaz has been serving as a pastor at Grace Chapel Benson in Benson, Arizona since 1988. In addition to his pastoral duties, he also served as a member of the Benson City Council. Diaz is the president of Grace Christian Center Inc., a non-profit organization, and the principal of Grace Christian Academy.
Before his current tenure, Diaz served as a member of the Arizona House of Representatives from the 14th district. He was in office from November 23, 2021, to January 9, 2023. He was appointed to the Arizona House of Representatives by the Cochise County Board of Supervisors in November 2021, succeeding Becky Nutt.
In addition to his political career, Diaz has also served as the Chaplain to the Legislative District 14 for over 10 years. His service as the Chaplain helped with his decision to take the seat in the House of Representatives.
Diaz is a member of the Republican Party. He ran for re-election to the Arizona House of Representatives to represent District 19 and won in the general election on November 8, 2022. His current term ends on January 13, 2025.
