Marc Catlin is a state representative from Montrose, Colorado. A Republican, Catlin represents Colorado House of Representatives District 58, which includes all or part of the western Colorado counties of Delta, Dolores, Gunnison, Hinsdale, Montezuma, Montrose, Ouray, and San Miguel, including the cities and towns of Montrose, Gunnison, Telluride, Olathe, and Crested Butte.

Marc Catlin is a state representative from Montrose, Colorado. A Republican, Catlin represents Colorado House of Representatives District 58, which includes all or part of the western Colorado counties of Delta, Dolores, Gunnison, Hinsdale, Montezuma, Montrose, Ouray, and San Miguel, including the cities and towns of Montrose, Gunnison, Telluride, Olathe, and Crested Butte.

Marc Catlin was born and raised on a row crop farm in Montrose, and is still actively involved with farming today. The Catlin family raises, Olathe Sweet Corn, barley, pinto beans, and seed beans. Coors barley, onions and sugar beets have been part of the rotation over the decades of farming.

In 1996, as the assistant manager, Marc Catlin started his career at the Uncompahgre Valley Water Users Association (UVWUA). In 2002, the same year as the 2002 North American drought, Marc Catlin accepted the position of manager of UVWUA. The rookie manager would win the Colorado Division of Water Resources - Division 4 “Water Manager of the year” for his actions during the drought season. This would be the same time that Marc Catlin would be serving his second term as President for the Four States Irrigation Council. Marc Catlin would end up serving as president for three consecutive terms: 2001, 2002, and 2003. The Four States Irrigation Council was founded in 1952 to serve as a forum for irrigators to exchange ideas on water delivery. The four member states are Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, and Wyoming.

On January 5, 2015, Marc Catlin was appointed to represent Montrose County, Colorado on the Colorado River Water Conservation District Board of Directors, more commonly known as the Colorado River District. Board Members are appointed by their respective County Commissioner to serve three year terms. Currently, Marc Catlin is serving his third term. On January 11, 2023, the Colorado River District Board of Directors elected Marc Catlin to serve as the Board’s Vice-President. A role that was critical in the Shoshone Water Right Preservation Project. A deal that was signed in December 2023 by the Colorado River District and Xcel Energy for the purchase and sale of water rights tied to hydroelectric power production at the Shoshone Generating Station in Glenwood Canyon, Colorado.
