Representative Tammy Story
Tamara Lee Story, known as Tammy Story, was born on February 24, 1959. She is an American politician and a member of the Democratic Party.
Tammy Story serves as a member of the Colorado House of Representatives, representing District 25. She assumed office on January 9, 2023, succeeding Lisa Cutter. Her current term is set to end in 2025.
Before her tenure in the House of Representatives, Tammy Story served as a member of the Colorado Senate, representing the 16th district in Jefferson County. She was first elected to the state senate in the general election on November 6, 2018, winning 55 percent of the vote over 42 percent of Republican incumbent Tim Neville. She served in the Senate from January 4, 2019, until January 9, 2023. She was succeeded by Chris Kolker.
In the 2022 election, Tammy Story ran for State House district 25. She defeated incumbent Colin Larson in the election, who had represented the 22nd district prior to redistricting.
Apart from her political career, Tammy Story’s professional experience includes working as the mountain area lead of the Jeffco Public Schools 2015 recall campaign, in an advisory role to school administrators and school boards with Jeffco Public Schools, and as a speech pathologist. She also served on the Jeffco Associations Legislative Forum.
During her time in office, Tammy Story has been assigned to various committees. In 2023-2024, she was assigned to the Agriculture, Livestock, and Water Committee and the Public and Behavioral Health and Human Services Committee. In 2021-2022, she served as the Vice chair of the Capital Development Committee, Senate Education Committee, and Senate Local Government Committee. In 2019-2020, she was assigned to the Capital Development Committee, Senate Education Committee (as Vice chair), and Business, Labor, and Technology Committee.
Tammy Story represents House District 25 which includes Evergreen, Conifer, and parts of Jefferson County. Her legislative priorities are education funding, student success, and teacher pay.
