Representative Juan Carlos Porras
Juan Carlos Porras is an American politician serving as a member of the Florida House of Representatives for the 119th district. He was born on July 8, 1997, in Miami, Florida.
Porras earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Florida International University. During his time at the university, he served as President of the FIU College Republicans. His early career in government began with internships in the office of U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, who was one of his professors at FIU. He also worked in the offices of then-Governor Rick Scott, and state representatives Juan Fernandez-Barquin and Spencer Roach.
He assumed office on November 8, 2022, succeeding Juan Fernandez-Barquin. As a member of the Republican Party, Porras is a principled conservative and lifelong Republican. In addition to his political career, he is also a small business owner.
Porras was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in November 2022. His current term ends on November 5, 2024. He has declared his candidacy for the Republican primary scheduled on August 20, 2024, running for re-election to continue representing District 119.
