Representative Susan Valdés Contact information

Susan Valdés is a member of the Democratic Party and a representative of the Florida House of Representatives, representing District 64. She assumed office on November 8, 2022, and her current term ends on November 5, 2024.

Born on November 3, 1964, in New York City, NY, Susan moved to Florida in 1972. She currently resides in Tampa, Florida. She is married to Gerardo “Gerry” Valdés, Jr. of New York City, NY, and they have three children: Mallory, Alexander, and Jean-Luc Valdés. They also have five grandchildren: Julisa, Alexander “AJ,” Jr., Lucinda, Madison, and Aveline.

Susan graduated from A.P. Leto Comprehensive High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Nova Southeastern University in 2012 and a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Manhattan College in 2018.

Before her tenure in the Florida House of Representatives, Susan was the District 1 representative on the Hillsborough County Public Schools Board of Education in Florida. She sought another term in the primary election on August 30, 2016, and won re-election outright by receiving more than 50 percent of the votes cast. She resigned from the Hillsborough School Board, effective November 6, 2018.

In her current role, Susan has been assigned to several committees, including the Education & Employment Committee and the Ways and Means Committee. She has also volunteered and managed a clinic with the Hillsborough County Health Care Program.

In her spare time, Susan enjoys dance, music, reading, and theater.
