Representative Karen Mathiak

Karen Mathiak is an American chiropractor and politician from Georgia. She was born on November 6, 1955, in Michigan. Mathiak pursued her education at Life University in Marietta, Georgia, where she graduated from the Doctor of Chiropractic program in 1984. She began her career as a chiropractic assistant for Dr. Ron Graves before becoming a chiropractor herself.

In 2003, Mathiak was appointed to the Georgia Board of Chiropractic Examiners by Governor Sonny Perdue. She was reappointed to the same board in 2011 by Governor Nathan Deal. Her dedication to the field of chiropractic care and her leadership skills were evident through these appointments.

Mathiak’s political career began when she won the election on November 8, 2016, becoming a Republican member of the Georgia House of Representatives for District 73. She defeated Rahim Talley with 64.53% of the votes. As an incumbent, she won the election unopposed on November 6, 2018, and continued serving District 73. She secured another victory on November 3, 2020, defeating William Harris.

In the 2024 Georgia House of Representatives election, Mathiak was redistricted to District 82. Throughout her political career, she has been actively involved in various committees, including the House Appropriations Committee, House Health and Human Services Committee, House Higher Education Committee, Insurance Committee, House Interstate Cooperation Committee, and the State Planning and Community Affairs Committee, where she served as the chair.

Mathiak’s commitment to her constituents and her dedication to public service have made her a respected figure in Georgia politics. She continues to serve her community with passion and integrity.

Karen Mathiak resides in Griffin, Georgia, with her husband, Marty. She owns Mathiak Chiropractic Center and has been an active member of the Spalding County Zoning Board and the Spalding County GOP.
