Representative Karlton Howard
Karlton Howard is a member of the Democratic Party and represents District 129 in the Georgia House of Representatives. He assumed office on January 9, 2023, and his current term ends on January 13, 2025.
Howard was born and raised in Augusta, Georgia. He graduated from Lucy Craft Laney High School and earned a B.A. in business administration from LaGrange College. He also holds a certificate in theology from the Augusta branch of the American Baptist Theological Seminary.
Before his political career, Howard worked as a pastor of the Noah’s Ark Missionary Baptist Church in Keysville, Georgia. He also served as a procurement specialist for the CSRA Business League in Augusta and worked in the Howard family business.
Howard ran in a special election to the Georgia House of Representatives to represent District 129. He won the special Democratic primary on December 20, 2022. In addition to his legislative duties, Howard has served on various local advisory boards and the Augusta Aviation Commission.
In the Georgia House of Representatives, Howard has been assigned to the Education Committee and the House Interstate Cooperation Committee for the 2023-2024 term.
