Saira Draper is a dedicated and passionate public servant who currently represents Georgia’s House District 90 in the Georgia House of Representatives. She assumed office on January 9, 2023, and her current term ends on January 13, 2025.

Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Saira earned a B.S. in public policy from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2006 and a J.D. from Georgetown University in 2011. Her educational background laid a strong foundation for her career in public service and law.

Before her political career, Saira co-founded Power the Vote and worked as the director of voter protection with the Democratic Party of Georgia. She also served as the Georgia director of voter protection for Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign, and as a senior staff attorney with the Southern Poverty Law Center. Her work has always been centered around civil rights and voting rights advocacy.

In the 2022 elections, Saira ran for election to the Georgia House of Representatives to represent District 90. She won in the general election on November 8, 2022, securing 93.5% of the votes. Prior to this, she defeated Michelle Schreiner in the Democratic primary runoff for Georgia House of Representatives District 90 on June 21, 2022.

As a representative, Saira is devoted to a number of legislative issues including expanding economic opportunity and reproductive justice. She is proud to represent the people of Georgia’s House District 90, where she fights to advance the issues that matter to her constituents and historically underserved communities across Georgia.
