Yasmin Neal, also known as Yaz, is a member of the Democratic Party and a representative in the Georgia House of Representatives for District 79. She assumed office on January 9, 2023, and her current term is set to end on January 13, 2025.

Neal ran for re-election to the Georgia House of Representatives to represent District 79 and won in the general election on November 8, 2022. Prior to this, she was a 2014 Democratic candidate for District 74 of the Georgia House of Representatives. She has also served in the Georgia House of Representatives, representing District 75 from 2011 to 2013.

Born in Clayton County, Georgia, Neal currently resides in Jonesboro, Georgia. She is an alumnus of Jonesboro High School. Furthering her education, she earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and police science from American Military University and a master’s degree in business administration from Strayer University in 2016.

In terms of career experience, Neal has held several notable positions. She has worked as the head of political/civic partnerships and data aggregation of Empowrd Apps LLC, served as a police officer and investigator with the Clayton County Police Department, and was the press secretary for Young Democrats of Georgia.

Throughout her tenure, Neal has been assigned to various committees. For the 2023-2024 term, she was assigned to the House Economic Development and Tourism Committee, Judiciary - Non-Civil Committee, Juvenile Justice Committee, and Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee. She was also assigned to similar committees in the 2021-2022 term and the 2011-2012 legislative session.

Neal’s contributions to the Georgia House of Representatives have been significant, and she continues to serve her constituents with dedication and commitment.
