Representative Kanani Souza
Kanani Souza is a member of the Republican Party and represents District 43 in the Hawaii House of Representatives. She assumed office on November 8, 2022, and her current term ends on November 5, 2024.
Education: Kanani Souza graduated from Kamehameha Schools in 2003. She earned a B.A. in political science from the University of Southern California in 2007, an M.Ed. from Chaminade University of Honolulu in 2010, a J.D. from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 2013, and an LL.M. from Lewis & Clark College in 2022.
Career: Her career experience includes working as a deputy prosecuting attorney with the County of Hawaii and a lecturer with the University of Hawaii at West Oahu. Souza has served on the advisory board of Caring for Hawai’i Neonates and the board of the ACLU of Hawaii.
Elections: Souza ran for election to the Hawaii House of Representatives to represent District 43. She won in the general election on November 8, 2022, defeating incumbent Stacelynn Kehaulani Eli.
