Representative Joe Palmer
Joe A. Palmer is a Republican Idaho State Representative since 2008 representing District 20 in the A seat. He is a fourth-generation Idahoan, born and raised in the Treasure Valley. He graduated from Meridian High School and attended Ricks College. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Montana. After his mission, he graduated from Boise State University (BSU).
Palmer is self-employed and has owned a small business. He enjoys flying the backcountry of Idaho and experiencing the beautiful state. He also values spending time with his family. He has been married to his spouse, Leslie, for over 34 years. They have one daughter and three sons, and they are blessed with seven wonderful grandchildren.
In his political career, Palmer has held the position of Chair for the Transportation & Defense Committee and has been a member of the Business State Affairs Committee. He has run for re-election multiple times and has often been unopposed in the Republican Primary for District 20 A. In 2019, he ran for Mayor of Meridian, Idaho, and took second place, losing to Robert Simison with 32.4% of the vote.
