Representative Kent Marmon

Kent Marmon is a dedicated public servant and a prominent figure in Idaho politics. He currently serves as a member of the Idaho House of Representatives, representing District 11A. Marmon assumed office on December 1, 2024, and his current term is set to end on December 1, 2026. He is a member of the Republican Party and is running for re-election in the 2026 election.

Marmon was born and raised in Caldwell, Idaho, and is a second-generation Caldwellite. He graduated from Caldwell High School and went on to attend the College of Idaho. He later graduated with honors from Northwest Nazarene University, earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

Throughout his career, Marmon has held various positions in the private sector. He owned and operated a family printing business for 12 years until 1999. He also worked in management positions for Albertsons and built two Ace Hardware stores for an Ace franchisee. Additionally, he served as a Training Development Manager for MotivePower in Boise before retiring at the age of 54.

Marmon’s commitment to public service is evident through his extensive involvement in local government and community organizations. He served on the Caldwell City Council in the mid-1980s and was a member of the Caldwell School Board. He has also been actively involved in the Kiwanis organization, serving as the governor of the Utah-Idaho District and chairing international committees. Marmon has been recognized for his contributions to the community with the International Circle of Service Award by Circle K International.

In addition to his political and civic engagements, Marmon has been a dedicated supporter of the Boy Scouts of America. He is an Eagle Scout and has served as a scoutmaster, district chair, and board member for the Ore-Ida Council. He has received the prestigious Silver Beaver Award for his service to the organization.

Marmon is married to his wife, Sylvia, and they have been together for 48 years. They have three children, 15 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Marmon’s strong family values and commitment to his community have been the driving forces behind his successful career in public service.

As a legislator, Marmon is focused on addressing key issues such as eliminating the sales tax on groceries, reforming or repealing property taxes, and opposing any potential mask or vaccine mandates. He is also a strong advocate for school choice, supporting the use of state funds for private schooling.
