Representative Matthew Bundy
Matthew “Matt” Bundy is a representative of the Idaho House of Representatives, representing District 8A. He assumed office on December 1, 2022, and his current term ends on December 1, 2024. Prior to this, he held office in the Idaho House of Representatives District 23A.
Born in Ogden, Utah, Bundy has a rich educational background. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from Weber State University in 1982, followed by a Master’s degree from the University of Utah, and an Ed.S. from the University of Idaho.
Bundy served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, from 1984 to 2004, and achieved the rank of lieutenant colonel. During his service, he was a B-1B and B-52 aviator. He also had a post-9/11 combat deployment to Afghanistan.
After his military service, Bundy transitioned into the field of education. He is currently teaching American government at Mountain Home High School. He also served with the U.S. Department of State – Teachers for Global Classrooms program, working with educators in the 2012 Ukraine cohort.
Bundy’s dedication to education was recognized when he was selected by Veterans of Foreign Wars as the 2019-2020 VFW National High School Civics Teacher of the Year. In addition to his teaching career, Bundy is a high school baseball and basketball coach.
He has also been involved in local government, serving as a member of the Mountain Home City Council. Bundy is married to Colette, and they have three children and four grandchildren.
