Representative Shawn Dygert

Shawn Dygert is a dedicated public servant and a member of the Idaho House of Representatives, representing District 23B. He assumed office on December 1, 2024, and his current term will end on December 1, 2026. Shawn is a lifelong Republican with a passion for public service and a deep-rooted commitment to the people of Idaho.

Born in Blackfoot, Idaho, Shawn grew up in a ranching family, which instilled in him a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for the agricultural community. He pursued higher education, earning a bachelor’s degree from Utah State University and a master’s degree from the University of Idaho. With a background in agriculture education, Shawn dedicated 35 years of his career as a high school agriculture education teacher and FFA advisor, with 33 of those years spent in Kuna.

Shawn’s commitment to his community extends beyond the classroom. He has served as the Owyhee County Republican Central Committee Chairman for 10 years and as the Owyhee County Republican Youth Committeeman. Additionally, he has been a member of the Owyhee County Fair Board for eight years and has served as the Legislative Liaison for the Idaho Agriculture Teachers Association for 24 years.

In his role as a representative, Shawn is known for his integrity, accountability, and dedication to addressing the concerns of his constituents. He is a principled advocate for policies that foster economic growth, enhance education, and ensure the well-being of residents across the state. Shawn serves on several key committees, including the State Affairs Committee, the Agriculture Committee, and the Resources and Conservation Committee.

Shawn’s dedication to public service is matched by his commitment to his family. He has been married to his wife, Annette, for 39 years, and together they have four sons and 11 grandchildren. Shawn’s family is a source of inspiration and support, and he is deeply committed to ensuring a bright future for the next generation of Idahoans.

Throughout his career, Shawn has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to his community and a keen understanding of the issues that resonate with his constituents. His reputation for integrity, diligence, and collaborative solutions has earned him the respect and trust of the voters in Ada, Canyon, and Owyhee Counties. As he continues to serve in the Idaho House of Representatives, Shawn remains dedicated to upholding conservative values and representing the diverse needs and aspirations of his district.
