Treg A. Bernt, born on March 18, 1976, is an American politician and businessman who is currently serving as a member of the Idaho Senate for the 21st district. He assumed office on December 1, 2022.

Born and raised in Pocatello, Idaho, Bernt is a fourth-generation Idahoan. He graduated from Idaho State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communication. Listening to others and relating to their joys and concerns became a life-long priority for him.

Before his political career, Bernt worked as a territory manager for Shaw Industries. He later founded a flooring business, demonstrating his entrepreneurial spirit. His commitment to public service was evident when he served the Meridian community in several roles since 2007. He was elected twice to the Meridian City Council and also served as the president of the City of Meridian Parks & Recreation Commission.

Bernt ran for election to the Idaho State Senate to represent District 21 and won in the general election on November 8, 2022. His current term ends on December 1, 2024. As a senator, he has been assigned to the Local Government and Taxation Committee and serves as the Vice Chair of the Senate State Affairs Committee.

In addition to his political career, Bernt is an avid outdoorsman. He is married to Tiffanie and they have three children. His career experience includes owning a business and his dedication to public service continues to be evident in his role as a state senator.
