Katie Stuart, a member of the Democratic Party, is an American politician who serves as a member of the Illinois House of Representatives, representing District 112. She has held this position since 2017.

Katie Kobak Stuart is a Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives from the 112th district. The 112th district, located in the Metro East, includes all or parts of Bethalto, Caseyville, Collinsville, Edwardsville, Fairmont City, Fairview Heights, Glen Carbon, Granite City, Madison, Maryville, O’Fallon, Pontoon Beach, Roxana, Shiloh, Swansea, and Wood River.

Stuart, an Edwardsville resident, taught math at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville prior to taking office in the Illinois House of Representatives. As of July 3, 2022, Stuart is a member of the following Illinois House committees: Appropriations - Higher Education Committee (HAPI), Election Administration & Ballot Access Subcommittee (SHEE-ELEC), Elementary & Secondary Education: School Curriculum & Policies Committee (HELM), Ethics & Elections Committee (SHEE) where she serves as Vice Chair, Firefighters and Fight Responders Subcommittee (SHPF-FIRE), Higher Education Committee (HHED) where she serves as Chair, Mental Health & Addiction Committee (HMEH), and Police & Fire Committee (SHPF).

She has been serving in the Illinois House of Representatives since January 11, 2017. She has won several elections to retain her seat. In the 2016 election, she received 51.61% of the votes. In the 2018 election, she received 55.07% of the votes. In the 2020 election, she received 53.67% of the votes. And in the 2022 election, she received 54.22% of the votes.

Before her political career, Stuart was a full-time legislator with a B.A. in Mathematics from Rutgers University and an M.A. in Mathematics from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. She was a former public elementary and high school math teacher in Edwardsville and Highland and a former college math instructor at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. She lives in Edwardsville with her husband and two children.
