Representative Michael Coffey
Michael Coffey is an American politician who has been serving as a member of the Illinois House of Representatives for the 87th district since January 11, 2023. He succeeded Jason Huffman and is a member of the Republican party. He resides in Springfield, Illinois and is an alumnus of the University of Illinois.
Before his political career, Coffey was a small business owner. He brings years of experience running successful businesses, promoting tourism, and shepherding economic growth to the Sangamon County area. He has served on the Springfield Metropolitan Exposition and Auditorium Authority (SMEAA) board, which governs the Bank of Springfield Center since 1997 and has chaired SMEAA Since 2005.
In addition to his business ventures, Coffey managed his family’s Springfield restaurant Saputo’s before founding Papa Frank’s. His legislative priorities include retaining and growing jobs in the 95th District, ensuring Springfield remains the seat of Illinois government, reducing the tax burden on hardworking residents, protecting those in care of the state, and enhancing public safety.
Coffey has been married for over 30 years and is a proud father of three children and a grandparent to one grandchild. He continues to serve his community and state with dedication and commitment.
