Representative Michael Crawford

Michael Crawford is a dedicated and accomplished member of the Illinois House of Representatives, representing District 31. He assumed office on January 8, 2025, and his current term will end on January 13, 2027. Crawford is a member of the Democratic Party and won the general election on November 5, 2024, defeating Carl Kunz.

Crawford’s educational journey began at Lane Technical High School. He went on to earn a bachelor’s and graduate degree from Northern Illinois University, an MBA from Saint Xavier University, and a Ph.D. in higher education leadership from Concordia University Chicago. Additionally, he worked at Northern Illinois University, Chicago State University, and Benedictine University. He resides in the Wrightwood neighborhood on the Southside of Chicago with his wife, Joy’Ecstacy, and their 6-year-old twins.
