Senator Dan Dernulc
State Sen. Dan Dernulc has represented Senate District 1 since his election to the General Assembly in 2022. Senate District 1 encompasses a portion of Lake County in northwest Indiana.
Dernulc actively contributes to legislative responsibilities through his membership in several Senate Committees. These committees include Education and Career Development; Environmental Affairs; Local Government; and Pensions and Labor.
A dedicated member of the Highland community, Dernulc has served on various local bodies such as the Highland Town Council, Little Calumet River Basin Development Commission, and the Lake County Council.
Dernulc is an alumnus of Purdue University Northwest (formerly Purdue University Calumet), holding a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology. His educational background has equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of the telecommunications industry. Presently, he serves as a project manager in cybersecurity at AT&T.
Residing in Highland, Dernulc and his wife, Cindy, have been actively involved in raising their four children and are now enjoying the role of grandparents with three grandchildren.
