Senator Eric Bassler
State Sen. Eric Bassler has represented Hoosiers in Senate District 39 at the Statehouse since he was elected in 2014. Senate District 39 includes Daviess, Greene, Martin, and Knox counties as well as portions of Owen and Sullivan counties.
Bassler is the chair of the Senate Committee on Ethics and the Senate Subcommittee on School Funding, and he serves as the ranking member of the Senate Committee on Appropriations. Additionally, he is a member of the Senate Committee on Rules and Legislative Procedure and the Senate Committee on Environmental Affairs.
Professionally, he is a financial advisor at Edward Jones in Washington, Indiana. He was previously a senior credit advisor at Bannock Consulting in England, Armenia, Russia, and Kazakhstan, and a business development consultant for the United States Peace Corps, where he worked in Ukraine and Albania. He has worked as a program manager for the Bank Administration Institute in Chicago and as a loan officer and credit administration officer for First Citizens Banks, now known as Horizon Bank, in Michigan City. Bassler has also served as an adjunct professor of economics at Indiana University Northwest. He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and psychology from Indiana University and a master’s degree in economics.
Bassler’s civic involvement goes beyond his service in the General Assembly. He is a former council member at-large for the City of Washington Common Council and a member of the City of Washington Board of Public Works and Safety. He has also been a member of several organizations and boards, including the Catholic Education Endowment Board, Daviess County Community Foundation, Daviess County United Way, Daviess County YMCA, Edward Jones Leadership Team, Daviess County Board, and Purdue Extension 4-H Comm.
